Hospital-to-Home & Recovery Support in Langley, BC
Leaving hospital does not always mean everyday life immediately returns to normal. The stairs feel longer, showering needs planning, and the fridge is emptier than anyone remembered.
Recovery support adds practical, non-clinical help for those first weeks — so the person can rest and follow their care instructions, and family members aren’t trying to cover every shift themselves.

Situations where families ask about support
The transition home often raises questions like these:
- A parent is being discharged soon and no one can be there every day
- A planned surgery is coming up and recovery will limit movement for a while
- Everyday tasks like showering, dressing or cooking are temporarily difficult
- There are follow-up appointments and someone should go along
- Family members are coordinating help between work schedules
- The person lives alone and would benefit from regular check-ins
Non-clinical help during recovery
Support follows the Care Plan and the instructions the person has received:
Everyday home support
Meal preparation, laundry and light housekeeping while energy returns.
Assessed personal support
Help with showering, dressing or moving around, where assessed.
Check-ins and company
Regular visits so the person isn’t isolated during recovery.
Appointment accompaniment
Someone to go along to follow-up appointments, using transport the family arranges.
Following existing instructions
Support that respects the precautions provided by the healthcare team.
Family coordination
Updates so everyone involved knows how recovery is going.
Recovery support is priced on what the person is assessed as needing — for example, Personal Care at $65 per hour with a 2-hour minimum. You see the full price before approving.
Recovery support can help
- People returning home after a hospital stay
- Anyone recovering from planned or unplanned surgery
- Older adults living alone after discharge
- Families who can’t be present throughout recovery
Planning the first weeks at home
The Care Assessment reviews the instructions the person has been given, what’s likely to be hard at home, and when family can help. The Individualized Care Plan fills the gaps — no more, no less.
We consider the person's support needs, worker eligibility, availability, preferences and relevant fit when coordinating care. Support can taper as recovery progresses, or continue if ongoing help turns out to be needed.
