Dementia & Memory Support at Home in Victoria, BC
Person-centred support that helps someone living with dementia or memory changes keep their routines, their home and their sense of self for as long as possible.
Home is often the place a person living with dementia feels most like themselves. FeatherKeep supports that with consistent care workers, predictable days and practical help — while giving families a little more room to breathe.

When families start looking for memory support
Needs usually change gradually. Families often get in touch when:
- Meals, appointments or bills are being forgotten more often
- The person becomes unsettled later in the day or when routines change
- They are repeating questions and becoming anxious when alone
- A spouse is now caring around the clock and is becoming worn out
- Personal care is being refused or forgotten
- Family wants a familiar person checking in rather than a different face each time
How we support someone living with memory changes
Support is built around who the person is — their history, preferences and the routines that still make sense to them.
Familiar daily routines
Keeping meals, rest, activities and outings at the times the person is used to.
Companionship and engagement
Conversation, music, photos, simple tasks and activities that match the person’s abilities on the day.
Everyday help at home
Meal preparation, gentle prompting, light housekeeping and keeping the home calm and uncluttered.
Personal care, if assessed
Patient help with washing, dressing and toileting when it’s part of the Care Plan.
Family communication
Brief updates on how the person is doing and changes you may want to know about.
Respite for caregivers
Time for the main family caregiver to rest while support continues at home.
Dementia & Memory Support is priced on the level of care the person needs, confirmed after assessment.
Consistency matters more than anything
Unfamiliar people and changing routines can be unsettling for someone living with dementia. So the Care Assessment goes beyond tasks: we ask about the person’s life story, what calms them, what tends to upset them, their usual day and how they communicate best.
That shapes the Care Plan and how we match care workers. Care workers supporting memory needs must meet the requirement for dementia support, and we aim to keep the same small team visiting. As needs change, we review the plan with the family rather than waiting for a crisis.

What our dementia support does not include
FeatherKeep does not diagnose, treat or clinically manage dementia, and we can’t change how the condition progresses. We don’t provide nursing, medication administration, clinical monitoring, transportation or secure memory-care settings.
The person’s doctor and healthcare team remain responsible for diagnosis and medical care. We work alongside them by supporting daily life at home.

Dementia care at home in Victoria: common questions
Does my parent need a dementia diagnosis to get support?
No. We support people with a diagnosis and people experiencing memory changes who haven’t been assessed yet. We don’t diagnose; we focus on everyday support.
How do you keep care consistent?
We aim to keep the same small number of care workers visiting at regular times, and introduce any new person gradually where possible.
What if the person refuses help or doesn’t think they need it?
That’s common. The assessment explores how the person prefers to be approached, and visits are often introduced as company first, with practical help woven in.
Can you help in the late afternoon when things get harder?
Yes, visits can be scheduled around the times of day that are most difficult, subject to availability after assessment.
Do care workers have dementia experience?
Care workers matched to memory support must meet FeatherKeep’s requirement for dementia support. Only eligible workers can be matched.
How much does dementia support cost?
It’s priced on the level of care assessed. Companionship and everyday help use Home Support rates; plans with personal care use the Personal Care rate. You see the full price before approving.
What happens as needs increase?
We review the Care Plan with the family and adjust the support. If needs move beyond what non-clinical home care can safely provide, we’ll say so honestly.
